Wyatt Shely – Region 3 ODP Event.
While most of us were getting ready to over indulge in turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and assorted other types of great food over Thanksgiving break, Wyatt Shely (CVYSA 96 Blue) participated in the Annual Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Interregional Event held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. Below are some comments Wyatt would like to share on his experience.
“I had a great experience in Florida. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to play. I learned a lot from my coaches and players. I played on the Region 3 white team at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. We played against Region 1, 2, 4. I played left and right back. We played a 4-4-2, with a defensive and an attacking center midfielder. On the first day we had a training session in the morning and the afternoon. After that we had a game in the morning, and had a quick meeting about the game in the afternoon. Although we were 1-1-1, I felt we played really well.
“I made new friends with people on both Region 3 teams. And the last night we got to go to the Magic Kingdom. This was probably on the top of my list for the best soccer experiences I have ever had, because I was able to represent my region while playing soccer. And it was the fastest pace soccer I have ever played.
“I would like to thank Coach Pete, Coach Bare, Coach Caudill, and Coach Jimmy for helping me get there. I would also like to thank CVYSA, Jeff Schellenberger and my parents for all the support.“
